Your healing is holy work.

In 2012 I started going to church again. That was after living a few years as a borderline alcoholic if I’m being honest. I did a lot of partying with friends, staying out late and not really going anywhere in life. Those friends were actually two of the best friends I’ve ever had. Well, I eventually realized I wanted more. I wanted to go back to school and I wanted to stop drinking so much, so I decided to move back home and do just that. After getting my life [mostly] straightened out, I was back in church, I wasn’t drinking, I was sharing bible verses on my timeline and one friend in particular started calling me a hypocrite. I was a hypocrite because I was no longer drinking, no longer partying, and I was going to church every week.

But friend, I’m here to tell you I was NOT a hypocrite. I was changing. I was outgrowing old habits, old mindsets, and apparently old friendships. It was unfortunate because I loved that friend, and still do wish her the very best ’til this day. But friend, I was trying to heal - and it’s okay if you are, too. When you’re a born again Christian, you die to your old self, and the LAST thing that makes you is a hypocrite.

So go out today and be the best -holy- version of yourself possible and remember that the only opinion of you that matters is God’s!
